Iota Copy: Setting up Macro Parameters
There are a lot of Macro parameters dedicated to cover your needs.
To access Macro settings open the page in Edit mode, find Iota Copy macro container and click on it. Macro configuration panel will be displayed.
Clicking on the pencil icon will open macro settings panel.
Note: for any parameter to be saved, you will need to remove focus from the field, otherwise the value won’t be updated.
Copy header parameter allows you to copy page header, including header picture, header emoji and page name.
Copy section only parameter allows you to copy only contents of particular layout section in which macro is presented (rest of the page won’t be copied). You can read more about Confluence page layout in this article: https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/add-formatting-to-your-page/. If the parameter is checked Iota Copy button will be changed to correspond the action it performs.
Note: each section should have a newly added Iota Copy button, rather then copied one.
Export mode parameter allows to select one of the available export modes, which will be triggered, when clicking Iota Copy button:
Copy to clipboard will simply put page content to the clipboard.
Save as Word file (.doc) will export the page in
.doc
format.Save as PDF / Print will open the print dialog with the page contents prepared for PDF export.
Note: Mac users may see the following message, when running Iota Copy in Safari browser. Just click print and proceed with PDF export configuration.
Open email client opens default email client. Values in the To, Cc, Bcc, Subject and Body sections of the email will be prepopulated with the values of parameters described below.

Note: if email client is not opened upon clicking Iota Copy button, please make sure, that your browser doesn’t block pop-up windows.
To parameter allows you to prepopulate To section of your default email client, when opening using Iota Copy button. Several emails can be added: to do so you should separate emails by ,
symbol. Example: example@gmail.com, example2@gmail.com.
Cc parameter allows you to prepopulate Cc section of your default email client, when opening using Iota Copy button. Several emails can be added.
Bcc parameter allows you to prepopulate Bcc section of your default email client, when opening using Iota Copy button. Several emails can be added.
Subject parameter allows you to prepopulate the subject of your email, when opening using Iota Copy button.
Body parameter allows you to prepopulate body of your email, when opening using Iota Copy button. To add new lines in the body please use \n
symbol. Example:Hey everyone,\n\nPlease check the contents of the page below:
Both the Subject and Body parameters accept date variables such as $today
, $nextMonth
, and $lastWeek
. Using these variables allows for the dynamic population of relevant date values in the Subject or Body fields.
Important: to add content of the page to the opened email you need to paste it manually. You can do it using keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+V for Windows, Command+V for Mac) or by clicking right mouse button and selecting Paste option.
Macro can be copied and used on the same page or some other page in Confluence.
Finally you can delete macro from page using remove button .
